Teachers are phasing out cursive writing touting that it’s no longer significant because of today’s technology, how sad is that, that keyboards and touch screens have replaced good old fashioned handwriting.

  1. Great find, Phoebe, but depressing.
Even though I don’t possess phenomenal handwriting, it never would have crossed my mind to simply stop teaching it. Also, it leads to the obvious question: “And take up that time in school with…..what?”
I’m guessing all sorts of stuff that WON’T make me happy.

I normally like Michael Graham (talk radio guy from Boston), but he’s wrong on this one.

  2. I’m hoping that right-thinking teachers will sneak it back into the curriculum through their art classes, and make it a long unit every year. That’s what I would do, were I running a school.
