Charles J. Ogletree (born December 31, 1952 in Merced, California) is Jesse Climenko Professor at Harvard Law School, the founder of the school’s Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice, and the author of numerous books on legal topics.

Ogletree taught both Barack and Michelle Obama at Harvard; he has remained close to Barack Obama throughout his political career.[5] He appeared briefly on the joint Daily Show-Colbert Report election night coverage of the 2008 presidential election, making a few remarks about his personal knowledge of the Obamas.

Ogletree has written opinion pieces on the state of race in the United States for major publications.[6] Ogletree also served as the moderator for a panel discussion on civil rights in baseball on March 28, 2008 that accompanied the second annual Major League Baseball civil rights exhibition game the following day between the New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox.[7]

On July 21, 2009, Ogletree issued a statement in response to the arrest of his Harvard colleague and client, Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., whose arrest at his own home became a major news story about the nexus of politics, police power, and race that summer.[8] Professor Ogletree later wrote a book about the events entitled The Presumption of Guilt: The Arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Race, Class and Crime in America.

After the September 2009 death of Senator Ted Kennedy, Ogletree’s name was suggested as one of the possible appointees to Kennedy’s seat as a “placeholder” until a special election could be held. Other names rumored to be in contention were Michael Dukakis and several people who had held important Massachusetts or national Democratic positions: Paul G. Kirk (a former chair of the Democratic National Committee), Nick Littlefield (a former Kennedy chief of staff), Robert Travaglini, and Shannon O’Brien.[9]

In 2004 Harvard disciplined Ogletree for the plagiarism of six paragraphs from Yale scholar Jack Balkin’s book, What Brown v. Board of Education Should Have Said in his own book, All Deliberate Speed: Reflections on the First Half-Century of Brown v. Board of Education.[10] Ogletree apologized, saying that he “made a serious mistake during the editorial process of completing this book, and delegated too much responsibility to others during the final editing process.” Former Harvard President Derek C. Bok concluded, “There was no deliberate wrongdoing at all…. He marshaled his assistants and parceled out the work and in the process some quotation marks got lost.”[11][12]

Professor Derrick Bell, radical Harvard Professor.  Called America a “racist country”, “civil rights movement was a sham” and “white supremecy reigns”.

Wrote a futuristic science fiction book, “Space Traders”.  This is the synopsis of the book.

The Space Traders

Wed 14 Jul 2010 by abagond

The Space Traders

“The Space Traders” (1992) is a short story written by Derrick Bell, science fiction fan and professor of constitutional law.  It is a thought experiment: what if space traders came from another star and offered to buy all the black people in America?

It is set in America in the near future:

The government is nearly broke.
The oil and coal are almost gone.
The air is unfit to breathe by the old and sick – they have to wear masks.
Civil rights laws have been overturned.
Most blacks are poor, walled off in ghettos under armed guard.

The Space Traders arrive, offering:

Enough gold to settle America’s debts and make it a rich country again.
Machines that can produce cheap, clean power.
Chemicals to clean the air.

In exchange for:

All the black people in America.

They will not say why they want them. They give the president 16 days to make a decision – till Martin Luther King Day. They give proof they can make good on the deal.

Most whites see the trade as an amazing piece of luck: not only would the country become rich and liveable again but race would no longer be an issue!

Blacks are solidly against the deal. They do not trust the Space Traders one bit. Whites brush off their concerns.

Blacks start escaping the country, but then the borders are closed on instructions from the Space Traders.

The country is to vote on an amendment to the constitution to allow the Trade.

For the Trade:

Most white voters – who have long seen blacks as a drain on the country and the main cause of crime. Blacks should prove their patriotism and do what is best for the country!
The president and Congress – who need the white vote.
Television preachers – who, knowing how racist their mainly white working-class audience is, milk it for all it is worth.
The Supreme Court – who compare it to the Japanese American internment and forced military service.

Against:

All blacks – even the Uncle Tom who is the main character
White liberals
Jews – who compare it to Hitler’s Final Solution, but deep down know that without blacks they would become America’s next scapegoat.
Big business – who would lose 12% of their customers while certain industries, like oil, would be destroyed by the Trade. But mainly because without blacks the white masses would wake up and see who their true enemies are.

Big business controls the media, but as a television network head points out:

We simply can’t change this country’s view about the superiority of whites and the inferiority of blacks in a week. I doubt you could do it in a decade.

They try their best – but fail: 70% of Americans vote for the Trade.

And so on the last Martin Luther King Day in America, blacks are marched onto the ships of the Space Traders in chains, half-naked, while white men with guns look on, allowing no chance of escape.

Now on to the video.
On the “full” Breitbart video it shows Obama speaking at a Harvard protest and praising Prof. Derrick Bell, hugging him and telling the crowd to open their minds and open their hearts to what the Prof. has to say.

Further on the video it shows Charles Ogletree announcing before an audience that “we hid the tape during the 2008 election”, “it doesn’t matter who finds it (the video) now”.

WBGH refused to show the whole video and heavily edited it so Obama wouldn’t look bad.

Andrea Mitchell To Ben Smith On Obama College Tapes: ‘This Isn’t Some Firebrand Radical’

Ben Smith appeared on Andrea Mitchell Reports Wednesday to discuss a video posted on BuzzFeed from a Boston television station, which featured a young Barack Obama at “a 1991 campus protest in support of Harvard’s first tenured black law professor, Derrick Bell and to ‘demand tenure for minority and female law professors.’”

RELATED: Breitbart.com Editor To Release Full ‘Obama College Video’ On Hannity Tonight

“This is remarkable footage, we saw a snippet,” Mitchell said. “We were chatting off camera about it in one of the documentaries about Barack Obama, I have never seen all of that. We know Professor Derrick Bell’s fight for diversity on the faculty of Harvard Law. And this is classic Obama.”

“It’s kind of an amazing, interesting moment because he looks so young but he sounds exactly the same. It’s a really interesting moment in his career, he’d always try to take this conciliatory middle ground, particularly around issues of race. This was a moment he couldn’t there was an intense, divisive moment at Harvard where Derrick Bell was threatening to quit if they did not increase divserity in hiring and everyone had to choose to side and he ultimately chose to side with Bell and he gave this very classic Obama speech.”

“And what’s classic about it is it’s race and gender!” Mitchell exclaimed. “It’s the very issues we are talking about today, it’s issues of gender that have certainly taken hold in the republican campaign and we have heard what the president said when he called Sandra Fluke and spoke out about it at his press conference.”

“It gives you a sense of how adept he is at navigating these issues in public and how look he’s been doing it — and how much practice he’s has,” Smith noted.

“And the consistency of it and this is not some firebrand radical at all in the context of the times,” Mitchell observed. “He was the head of the law review and speaking out on behalf of a very distinguished professor.”

“And also taking a side, and taking the left side but doing it in a way that feels very conciliatory,” Smith concluded.

Not discussed was Breitbart.com’s contention that the video in question has been selectively edited.

CME heading toward Earth, due March 8, 2012 SOLAR STORM

GEOMAGNETIC STORM UPDATE: A CME propelled toward Earth by this morning’s X5-class solar flare is expected to reach our planet on March 8th at 0625 UT (+/- 7 hr). Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, who prepared the CME’s forecast track, say the impact could spark a strong-to-severe geomagnetic storm. Sky watchers at all latitudes should be alert for auroras. Aurora alerts: text, phone.

A mild geomagnetic storm is already underway, following a lesser CME impact on March 7th around 0400 UT. Shortly after the cloud arrived, a burst of Northern Lights appeared over the US-Canadian border. Shawn Malone photographed the display from the shores of Lake Superior:

“I was lucky to catch this brilliant outburst of aurora activity that was very active for close to an hour,” says Malone, who has also made a time-lapse video of the display. “The aurora had no problem shining through the moonlit skies.”

MAJOR SOLAR FLARE (UPDATED): Big sunspot AR1429 has unleashed another major flare. This one is the strongest yet, an X5-class eruption on March 7th at 00:28 UT. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme UV flash:

This eruption hurled a bright CME into space, shown here in a movie from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab estimate that the CME will reach Earth on March 8th at 0625 UT (+/- 7 hr), possibly triggering a strong-to-extreme geomagnetic storm. An animated forecast track shows the progression of the fast-moving cloud.

The flare also accelerated energetic protons toward Earth, triggering an S3-class solar radiation storm, in progress. Such a storm is mainly a nuisance to satellites, causing occasional reboots of onboard computers and adding noise to imaging systems. Solar flare alerts: text, phone.

THE MOON AND MARS: This week, Mars is at its closest to Earth for all of 2012. The Red Planet is easy to find: On March 7th it’s right beside the full Moon. Go outside after sunset and look for the Moon and Mars rising together in the east. [sky map]

S3-Strong
Biological: radiation hazard avoidance recommended for astronauts on EVA; passengers and crew in high-flying aircraft at high latitudes may be exposed to radiation risk.***

Satellite operations: single-event upsets, noise in imaging systems, and slight reduction of efficiency in solar panel are likely.

Other systems: degraded HF radio propagation through the polar regions and navigation position errors likely.

Rush: Sponsors ‘practically begging to come back’

‘They have not taken this program out. They have not taken me out’

Published: 3 hours ago

PALM BEACH, Fla. – After national controversy over his calling a Georgetown University law student a “slut” and “prostitute,” radio giant Rush Limbaugh says he has brand-new sponsors lined up to advertise on his program, and some who had canceled are now asking to return.

“We have three brand-new sponsors that will be starting in the next two weeks,” Limbaugh said this afternoon, adding he was not going to identify them today.

“Two of the sponsors who have canceled have asked to return. We are being very careful about that. I’m not gonna give you any names here. One of them is practically begging to come back.”

There have been reports among some news agencies that at least 40 advertisers have abandoned Limbaugh’s top-rated program since the furor involving Sandra Fluke’s push for insurance-covered birth control erupted last week, but Limbaugh said those news outlets are not being honest.

“Because they lie, and because they don’t understand how it works,” he said. “Everything is fine on the business side. Everything is cool. There is not a thing to worry about. Whatever you’re seeing on television about this program and sponsors and advertisers is just incorrect.”

Limbaugh explained that sponsors on his program are both local and national.

“We deal with the national sponsors on this program,” he said. “We have 600-plus stations. They sell their own commercials. We don’t have anything to do with those sponsors. We don’t get paid by those sponsors. We have no idea who those sponsors are.”

Some of the national sponsors that previously announced their departure include AOL, ProFlowers, Quicken Loans, mattress retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, software maker Citrix Systems, data-backup service provider Carbonite and online legal document services company LegalZoom.

Limbaugh noted it’s an everyday practice for local sponsors to have their ads withheld whenever a controversy breaks out, whether it be on shows hosted by fellow radio broadcasters including Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Howard Stern.

“They put out a notice to the stations [indicating], ‘By the way, for the time being, we don’t want our commercials run when Limbaugh is on.’ But they are not canceling their advertising on the station. They’re just saying they don’t want it running in my program during the local affiliate’s commercial time, not ours.”

“These advertisers are not abandoning EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) affiliates,” he continued. “Nobody is losing money here, including us, in all of this. And that is key for you to understand. They are not canceling the business on our stations. They’re just saying they don’t want their spots to appear in my show. We don’t get any revenue from ‘em anyway.”

Limbaugh said media reports about sponsors leaving him were just part of an onslaught to convince listeners that his show was history.

“The left is so fed up, they can’t see straight,” he noted. “They thought they had me. They thought I would be off the air by now. They can’t understand why I still am. There is also another rumor going around that I’m going to be suspended for a week. It is utter B.S. I would have to suspend myself.”

Limbaugh also said with more than 600 radio stations carrying his show nationwide, and all of them having at least 30 local commercial availabilities, “There might be 18,000 different people buying advertising within this program alone.”

He says with ABC News reporting he’s lost 28 advertisers, “That’s like losing a couple of french fries out in the container when it’s delivered to you at the drive-through. You don’t even notice it.”

Limbaugh closed the subject by stressing there were no financial losses because of the uproar.

“There is only growth. There are only gains. We’re moving forward. There is good in everything that happens,” he said.

“They have not taken this program out. They have not taken me out. They’re the ones who are frustrated. They’re the ones who are angry. They’re they ones who are gonna be blowing gaskets in the next couple of weeks.”

Limbaugh has offered more than one apology for his remarks to Fluke, saying on Monday, “I acted too much like the leftists who despise me. I descended to their level using names and exaggerations to describe Sandra Fluke. It’s what we have come to know and expect from them, but it’s way beneath me. It’s wrong and that’s why I apologized, because I succumbed. I descended to their level. Don’t be mad at them or mad at her. Everybody here was being true to their nature except me. I’m the one who had the failing on this, and for that I genuinely apologize for using those words to describe Ms. Fluke.”

Fluke responded, “I don’t think that a statement like this issued, saying that his choice of words was not the best, changes anything, and especially when that statement is issued when he’s under significant pressure from his sponsors who have begun to pull their support.”

Chanting U S A in the USA is now disrespectful

See where chanting ‘U-S-A!’ not allowed

‘We don’t want to start a race war’

By Kevin DeAnna

Chanting the name of your own country is now prohibited.

Basketball players at Alamo Heights High School defeated San Antonio Edison in Texas on Saturday. In jubilation, Alamo Heights students began chanting “USA, USA!”

School officials immediately stopped the chant because they believed it was disrespectful.

Reporter Brian Mylar’s article at KSAT.com was headlined “Racial incident mars high school game” and termed it a “disturbing incident.”

However, in an interview with WND, he admitted he was not actually at the event and the report was based on video.

In interview with WND, Mylar commented that there were no racial chants, but the chant of “USA” was taken by some to be racial.

When asked if the other team’s fans had responded in any way, he said that he did not know because he was not at the event and the report was based on video. He also stated that he did not know if the predominantly Hispanic fans of San Antonio had chanted anything that caused Alamo Heights fans to respond in this way, as “I don’t know. We don’t want to start a race war.”

According to the San Antonio Independent News, the chant of “USA” lasted about five seconds before being silenced by the coach of Alamo Heights.

The Edison team also was already in the locker room. However, San Antonio Independent School District Athletic Director Gil Garza filed a complaint with the University Interscholastic League on Tuesday.

This is not unique for the area, as both Mylar and the San Antonio Independent News referenced an incident the prior year when the predominantly white Cedar Park High School chanted “USA” and “Arizona” at the fans of mostly the mostly Hispanic Lanier High from San Antonio.

USA vs. Mexico soccer games have also become a scene of tension, with the U.S. team taking for granted that games in Los Angeles are “Mexican home games” and Mexican fans chanting “Osama” and throwing urine and vomit at the American players.

School officials of both districts immediately condemned the students. According to Mylar, San Antonio Independent School District spokeswoman Leslie Price stated, “It is surprising and it’s disappointing to hear that anyone would be out there making those kinds of remarks.”

Alamo Heights Supt. Kevin Brown also apologized, saying, “We just hope that people know that that’s not who we are and we’re not going to let it happen again.”

Alamo Heights as a school has also apologized and the students identified will be banned from state title games and be forced to apologize, officials said. According to the San Antonio Independent News, some of the Alamo Heights students who chanted “USA” and have been punished are Hispanic.

However, there have been no allegations that any racially insensitive language was used, besides “USA.”

The principal for Alamo Heights declined comment.

BREAKING: Breitbart’s mystery tapes on Obama released

The first images from a stash that the late Andrew Breitbart promised to use to “vet” Barack Obama during the 2012 presidential race appeared today.

Ben Smith of Buzzfeed announced on Twitter that the film was released by video researcher Andrew Kaczynski, but Breitbart’s Big Government.com site immediately noted that it has been “edited” and that more video would be coming within hours.

On the video, Obama is speaking to a rally on behalf of a professor.

He praises the teacher: “The black law students organized an orientation … one of the persons who spoke was Professor Bell. …. I remember him sauntering up to the front and not giving us a lecture but engaging us in a conversation,” Obama says.

According to Joel Pollak’s report at Breitbart.com, “The video, which Kaczynski says was ‘licensed from a Boston television station,’ shows a young Barack Obama leading a protest at Harvard Law School on behalf of Prof. Derrick Bell, a radical academic tied to Jeremiah Wright – about whom we will be releasing significant information in the coming hours.”

He reported that the video was “selectively edited – either by the Boston television station or by Buzzfeed itself.”

He promised that Breitbart.com will release “additional footage that has been hidden by Obama’s allies in the mainstream media and academia.”

The report also said Pollak and Ben Shapiro will appear on the Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” show tonight to talk about the tape.

WND reported earlier that Breitbart had been investigating Obama just before his sudden death.

He told a crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington that he had obtained videos of Obama from the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s college days.

“I’ve got videos, by the way. This election we’re going to vet him. I’ve got videos – this election we’re going to vet him – from his college days to show you why … racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008,” Breitbart told CPAC.

He said the videos will reveal Obama during a time when he was meeting a “bunch of silver ponytails” – referring to Weather Underground terror group members Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

It was in the couple’s Chicago home that Obama’s political career reportedly was launched, and his ties to the two run deep. There’s been a solid argument made that Ayers ghost-wrote Obama’s highly acclaimed memoir, “Dreams from My Father.”

The possibility of videos producing revelations about Obama’s college days is significant, as Obama has carefully kept concealed evidence about his life during the time he reportedly attended Occidental College in California and later two East Coast schools.

A lawsuit at one point obtained an order for Occidental to reveal Obama’s student records. The aim was to find out whether he obtained aid or assistance as a foreign student, lending credibility to the argument that he does not qualify to be president under the Constitution’s “natural-born citizen” requirement.

The video posted by Buzzfeed:

Interest in the issue of Obama’s eligibility skyrocketed recently when an investigative team commission by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., said there is probable cause that the document released by the White House last year as President Obama’s birth certificate is a computer-generated forgery.

At a news conference, lead investigator Mike Zullo said his team believes the Hawaii Department of Health has engaged in a systematic effort to hide from public inspection any original 1961 birth records it may have in its possession.

“Officers of the Hawaii Department of Health and various elected Hawaiian public officials may have intentionally obscured 1961 birth records and procedures to avoid having to release to public inspection and to the examination of court-authorized forensic examiners any original Obama 1961 birth records the Hawaii Department of Health may or may not have,” Zullo said.

Obama loses Democratic primary in 15 Oklahoma counties

Makes me wonder what would happen if a Republican, say Ron Paul, changed party affiliation to Democrat and opposed Obozo.

————————————————————————————————————

Published March 07, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY –  President Obama collected the most votes in the Oklahoma Democratic primary, but lost in 15 counties.

With 98 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday, Obama won 57 percent of the vote. Four other candidates combined for 43 percent of the vote, including anti-abortion activist and Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry who received 18 percent of the vote.

According to Democratic Party rules, Terry is eligible for a delegate since he won more than 15 percent of the statewide vote. Terry beat Obama in 12 counties, mostly in western Oklahoma.

Terry acknowledges he can’t win the presidency but says he hopes to cause Obama’s defeat in the fall.

Oklahoma earned the nickname “reddest of the red” states after Obama’s failed to win a single county in the 2008 presidential race.

‘Joe the Plumber’ wins GOP primary in Ohio

March 7th, 2012  02:31 AM ET

(CNN) – Samuel Wurzelbacher, better known as “Joe the Plumber,” won Tuesday’s Republican primary in Ohio’s 9th Congressional District, according to unofficial vote results from the Ohio Secretary of State.

With 100% of precincts reporting, Wurzelbacher bested opponent Steven Kraus to become the GOP nominee and will face Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur, the longest serving woman in the House of Representatives, in the fall.

Kaptur defeated longtime Rep. Dennis Kucinich in a closely-watched Democratic primary Tuesday that pitted the two incumbents against each other after the state redrew its lines in a redistricting battle.

Wurzelbacher rose to GOP fame in 2008 when he challenged then-presidential candidate and Sen. Barack Obama over his small business tax plan.

The confrontation quickly became a popular anecdote in the presidential election and was frequently used as a campaign message by then-Republican presidential candidate and Sen. John McCain and his then-running mate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

The plumber-turned-celebrity has since capitalized on his popularity by writing a book and making media and campaign appearances.
