Meet registered Democrat and self-identified Hispanic American, George Zimmerman

The individual at the center of the controversial Trayvon Martin shooting is a registered Democrat.

George Michael Zimmerman, born Oct. 5, 1983, registered as a Democrat in Seminole County, Fla., in August 2002, according to state voter registration documents.

It is unclear whether he voted for President Barack Obama in 2008.

Some in the media have sought to blame Republican politicians and conservative activists for Martin’s death.

“[Republican politicians] reinforce and validate old stereotypes that associate the poor and welfare as criminal behavior with African-Americans and people of color, calling us lazy, undeserving recipients of public assistance. In the case of Trayvon, those festering stereotypes had lethal consequences,” said MSNBC political analyst and Democratic fundraiser Karen Finney.

According to the document, Zimmerman’s race is officially listed as Hispanic. The son of a white father and Peruvian mother, he has been described as a “white Hispanic” in most media reports.

Following the Feb. 26 fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in a Sanford, Fla. gated community, Zimmerman has been the target of widespread outrage.

Zimmerman shot and killed Martin following a physical confrontation, but has yet to be charged with a crime. He says he acted in self-defense, a claim supported by the Sanford, Fla., Police Department investigating the case.

Protesters and activists led by professional racial justice advocates Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have suggested Martin’s killing was racially motivated, and have called for Zimmerman’s arrest.

“We want George Zimmerman in court with handcuffs behind his back,” Sharpton said last week.

Martin’s mother, Sabrina Fulton, has alleged that Zimmerman killed her son “because of the color of his skin.”

Craig Sonner, the attorney representing Zimmerman, has denied such allegations, noting that his client has acted as a mentor to a black single mother and her two children, and had helped them raise money for their all-black church.

For Zimmerman’s safety, the Free Beacon has redacted his address from the registration document. The New Black Panther Party has offered a $10,000 bounty for Zimmerman’s capture.

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. –

North Miami Beach police said surveillance video shows dozens of high school students demonstrating in the Trayvon Martin case Friday ransacking a Walgreens store.

The incident occurred during a walkout from North Miami Beach Senior High School in support of Martin, 17, who was fatally shot in Sanford. Protesters have been calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman, 28, who has not been charged because he claimed self-defense in the shooting, according to police.

There’s a video on youtube but it only shows the rampage, the video on the website has an interview with the kids that will give you an idea of their mindset.

Minutes after walking out of their school Friday, a large group of students walked through the streets of North Miami Beach. Along the way, they stopped at a Walgreens at 163rd Street and 15th Avenue at about 10:40 a.m.

Surveillance video shows dozens of teenagers running through the store. Police said about 80 to 100 students stormed in, ransacking the shelves, before the school’s vice principal ordered everyone outside.

North Miami Beach police said students damaged items worth about $150.

“We do not accept any type of violation on the part of our students,” Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said Friday. “There ought to be consequences, and we’ll be collaborating with whatever law enforcement entity is investigating that issue.”

“I don’t think they were doing it, like, to be malicious or whatever. They were just in the moment where they weren’t really thinking right because they were so angry,” said student Jenny Sincere.

“It showed bad character because that’s not what we were out there for,” student Eric On-Sang said. “A few just made us look really bad.”

Some students admitted Tuesday to being part of the rampage.

“I’m not going to lie. I was one of the people that was pushing in there because I was mad,” one student said.

When asked whether the incident may have hurt their cause, student Christopher Paul said, “Yeah, it kind of did, yeah. I was just angry. I don’t know what the rest of them were doing. I was just trying to make a point for Trayvon. That’s it.”

No injuries were reported.

Some of the students dropped their IDs on the way out of the store, police said, so investigators have an idea of who was inside.

The School Board said the students involved could be prosecuted and face disciplinary action at the school.

Military Academy Hosts “Queer Prom” & “Condom Olympics”

Military cadets are celebrating gay pride week at the nation’s oldest private military academy by holding a “Queer Prom” and a “Condom Olympics” — an event that includes a game where participants smear lubicrant on condoms until they tear.

Norwich University’s celebration of homosexuality will culminate Saturday with a “Free Love Dance” at the school’s armory. The university said the events are meant to have an “open dialogue on diverse opinions in a safe place.”

The events are believed to be the first of their kind on an American military campus. Norwich University was founded in 1819 in Northfield, VT and has about 1,300 cadets and 1,100 civilian students.

A university spokesperson told Fox News that as an institution of higher learning they support “exploring ideas and respecting the right to a diverse opinion and having respectful conversations so that people can learn from each other.”

The university’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Alllies Club held its first meeting the day after the end of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Approximately 30-35 people attend club meetings.

As an institution, Norwich never banned open homosexuality in the corps of cadets, but because many of its students were destined for the military, which prior to the end of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” the law served to keep people quiet, said Norwich spokeswoman Daphne Larkin.

Among the scheduled events are the “condom Olympics.” Prophylactics will be given as prizes. Military cadets will also be attending a dance where same-sex partners are welcome. There will also be a discussion about HIV testing – and a movie called, “Lord, save us from your followers.”

A university spokesperson told Fox News the “condom Olympics” include a number of games ranging from filling condoms with water – to learning about lubricants. According to the university, the games include:

-Rubber Relay Race
Participants will divide up into two teams. One team will have an internal/female condom and the other will have an external condom. Each team will use their condoms to run water from one bucket to another at the opposite end of the room.

-Safer Flavors
Participants will be paired up. One teammate will be blindfolded while the other puts a flavored dental dam in front of their face so that they can determine the flavor.

–Pop The Prophylactic
Participants will be paired up. One teammate will blow up an external condom and tie it off. The other teammate will then put on of the various types of lubricants on the condom and rub it until it pops.

-Texture Testing
Individuals will place their hands inside boxes to assess the texture of the condoms inside.

-Lubricated Thumb Wrestle
Participants will be paired up. Each participant will put on a glove and have lubricant spread over their hand. Participants will then thumb wrestle with each other.

–Condom Creations
Participants will be placed into teams wherein each team is in charge of using various types of condoms to create something unique.

The Family Research Council called the planned events an assault on traditional moral values.

“It does illustrate some of the concerns we had with regard to the repeal of the law against homosexual conduct in the military which is there would be a slippery slope from neutrality very quickly to hostility towards people who disapprove of homosexuality,” Peter Sprigg told Fox News.

Sprigg, a senior fellow for policy studies at the Family Research Council, said the gay pride events at Norwich have created a hostile environment for students with traditional moral values.

“It’s one thing to say that the military is going to become neutral on the issue of homosexuality,” he said. “It’s quite different to go to the point where you are celebrating gay pride events and having a condom Olympics and a queer prom.”

Joshua Fontanez, a past president of the university’s student government, told the Associated Press that he always wanted to be a soldier but figured he would have to keep his sexuality a secret.

“The aspects of my sexual orientation, how that played in the military, that was something I was willing to sacrifice, being open versus serving my nation,” Fontanez told the Associated Press. “It’s something I feel I was truly called toward and truly loved, so it’s great that I don’t have necessarily to make that sacrifice.”

JetBlue Pilot Flips Out In Mid air

JetBlue captain’s erratic behavior forces emergency landing, reports say

AMARILLO, Texas –  A JetBlue plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Amarillo, Texas, Tuesday after the captain had a ‘medical situation’ while on the plane.

JetBlue 191, which was headed from New York’s Kennedy Airport to Las Vegas, was forced to make the landing after the pilot reportedly ran up and down the aisles screaming “Say your prayers” after he was locked outside the cockpit, The New York Post reported, citing a passenger.

“Someone next to me said he was saying something about bombs,” recounted the passenger,

Tiffany Lee, 26, to the paper. Another passenger told Fox 5 News that a man wearing a pilot’s uniform ran down the aisle screaming and banging on the cockpit door to let him in.

One of the flight attendants reportedly got on the intercom and asked passengers to restrain the man. Several followed the instructions and pinned the man until the plane landed, the report said.

One of the four passengers who helped subdue the man was a retired NYPD sergeant, The Post reported.

David Gonzalez, a former corrections officer who was headed to a security conference in Las Vegas, told Fox News that the pilot tried to break into the cockpit and struggled with the flight attendants and appeared to want to open the plane’s side door.

“I said, ‘Hey, what’s the problem,’” Gonzalez said. “And the stewardess said, “Can you help me?’”

Gonzalez said the pilot began yelling about Iraq and Iran. After a two minute struggle, Gonzalez said he was able to subdue the pilot. Other passengers then stepped in and tied the pilot, he said.

One of the co-pilots reportedly convinced the captain to leave the cockpit and locked him out, CBSDFW.com reported. Another JetBlue pilot, who was off-duty but on the plane, took over the other’s duties.

“He picked the wrong plane. Huge guys just tackled him. The response was Olympics kind of stuff,” one passenger said, according to CBSDFW.com.

There are reports that the pilot may have been a war veteran.

A spokeswoman from JetBlue told FoxNews.com that the passengers will be reimbursed for the flight and receive a credit for twice the value of their ticket. The airline would not release the pilot’s name or medical history.

Trayvon Martin, Juvenile Delinquent or Scared Kid?

Media is reporting today on Trayvon’s “youthful indiscretions”.  He was suspended from school on three occasions, once for graffiti,  once for possessing burglary tools, a screwdriver and some jewelry and the last time for marijuana traces and paraphernalia but this shouldn’t be at issue here, and in no way, signal a penchant for violence.

Imagine this scenario, you’re a young man walking home from the store happily snacking on some skittles and nonchalantly swigging ice tea, when out of the blue some heavy set Hispanic male starts following you.   You look around and there is no one but you and he, you make eye contact to let him know that you know that he’s watching and following you, hoping that he would realize he’s been found out and stop following you.  The lone vehicle is a pick up truck with no particularly or noticeable markings, no big sign on the side that says, “self proclaimed neighborhood watch captain”.   No uniform that has big “security guard” letters on it, no badge, no nothing to suggest any authority whatsoever.

You continue on your merry way being mindful of this man behind you, not knowing why or what he wants.  Your mind races, is this guy a pervert, a robber or perhaps even a killer, why is he following me, I need to get home to safety, I need to run away from this man.  Damn, he’s still behind me, I can’t have him follow me home, who knows what he’ll do when he finds out where I live, I need to stop him.  I’ll kick his ass first and ask questions later since I don’t know if he has a weapon.

Blacks are screaming, kill George Zimmerman, white’s are calmly saying, let’s wait until the facts come in.  First the true facts will probably never be known.  The police chief has quit and gone running with his tail between his legs, probably because he didn’t want to have to deal with angry black mobs.  The Justice Dept has already shown that they won’t stand up to the black panthers so where is the truth going to come from?

I say there are certain facts already there that can’t be disputed.  Fact:  an unarmed boy was walking home from the store with a bag of skittles.  Fact:  George Zimmerman was following the boy even though he was told by police to stand down.  Fact:  George Zimmerman instigated this altercation by not standing down.  Fact:  911 call clearly shows that police were on their way and would meet him at the mailboxes.  Fact:  911 call clearly shows that he  said “okay” and then said “here’s my number, have them call me and I’ll tell them where I am”, clearly indicating that he was not going to be at the mailboxes that he was going to continue to follow Trayvon.  Fact:  George Zimmerman has called the police 46 times in the previous days which clearly shows he was a man on a mission looking to make a name for himself by catching all the bad guys in the neighborhood.  Fact:  On the 911 tape he clearly says “They always get away” which means that he has chased others.  He was looking for an altercation, he was looking for trouble, he didn’t count on this one not running away.

Jane Fonda to play Nancy Reagan in ‘Butler’

Actress will portray former First Lady in Lee Daniels pic

In the midst of recruiting an all-star ensemble for his long-gestating passion project “The Butler,” director Lee Daniels has tapped Jane Fonda to play Nancy Reagan.Based on a Washington Post report by Wil Haygood, pic follows Eugene Allen, the White House butler whose career started with Harry Truman in 1952 and ended in 1986 with Ronald Reagan.

Forest Whitaker is closing a deal to play Allen, while Oprah Winfrey remains in talks to play his wife. David Oyelowo is in negotiations to play Allen’s son, while Liam Neeson and John Cusack are circling presidential supporting roles as Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon, respectively. Fonda will appear in a handful of scenes as the first lady of the United States.

Daniels, who is directing from a script he co-wrote with Danny Strong, is in the process of finalizing financing for the pic, which has no distributor onboard yet. Pamela Williams will produce through Laura Ziskin Prods. along with Hilary Shor.

Though no cast deals are in place yet, producers are eyeing a summer start date.

Fonda, who was last seen opposite Lindsay Lohan in Garry Marshall’s “Georgia Rule,” next stars in Bruce Beresford’s “Peace, Love and Misunderstanding,” which IFC Films opens in limited release on June 8.
